Songs: Perfect Woman performed by Steve Freeman and Brandt Williams of The Real Placebos (AGF CD 1)
About the Music: "The song is a cover version of Perfect Woman by Kenny Sultan and Tom Ball. We were initially drawn to this song because we’re big Kenny Sultan
and Tom Ball fans and we love the melody, energy and hilarious lyrics of their version. Sadly our singing skills are not great. So, we decided to develop an instrumental arrangement that captures the driving energy and light hearted spirit of their version."
Recording Information: "The song was recorded and mixed at my home using Garageband on an Apple iBook G4. We used a single AKG 535 EB mic on each guitar pointed straight in at the 14th fret at a distance of roughly 10-12 inches. The mics were run through a Presonus Firebox firewire preamp/recording interface using Mogami cables. We kept the EQ flat in the mixing and did not use any compression, reverb or other effects."
Instruments Used: "We developed a duet instrumental arrangement of the song with me flatpicking a 2004 Martin OM-28V and Brandt fingerpicking a 2004 Santa Cruz OM/PW. Both guitars are standard OM size instruments with no cutaway, sitka spruce tops and Indian Rosewood backs and sides."
Tuning: Standard
About the Artist: "Brandt and I are members of “The Real Placebos”, a small group that performs acoustic roots music. Since recording this song, we’ve added a fiddle player, Raffi Minasian, and we’re having a blast playing small venues in the San Francisco Bay Area. Perfect Woman is a favorite with our small but devoted group of fans."
