Songs: Reminiscing (AGF CD 1)

About the Music: "I had this tune already recorded, but hadn't released it myself on anything, and thought people might enjoy it. I think it captures the sound of Kathy's wonderful guitar well. My inspiration usually comes from just noodling around. In this tune, I think the initial theme with the move to the secondary dominant caught my ear, and I just developed it from there. The tune didn't have a name for a long time, but I think "Reminiscing" finally captured the slightly conversational and introspective mood I feel when I play it."
Recording Information: "This was recorded in my home studio, with a signal chain of Schoeps CMC6 mics with MK41/Mk8 capsules, Great River MP2H preamp, Cranesong HEDD A/D converter, into a Sound Devices 744T hard disk recorder. I used a Mid-Side (M/S) mic setup with the Schoeps, about 8 inches from the guitar, in front of, but above the soundhole. Mixing, etc, was done in Adobe Audition."
Instruments Used: Recorded on a 2002 Kathy Wingert Model E, cutaway, Cocabola and German Spruce
Tuning: DADGAD - 3rd fret. Capo 3 always seems to produce a sweet sound, and that seemed right for this tune.
About the artist: "I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and focus mostly on solo fingerstyle guitar, and also enjoy home recording. I have one released CD, Laurel Mill, and hope to complete a followup one of these days. I'm a regular contributor to Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and Mel Bay recently published my first instructional book, "Understanding DADGAD For Fingerstyle Guitar". I'm a fan of hand built guitars made by the many fine luthiers today, of which the Kathy Wingert guitar used on this track is a great example. "
